What It Does
Temperature sensors (thermistors) are electronic probes that measure the air or component temperature inside the refrigerator and report back to the main control board. Why It Fails
Thermistors can fail due to moisture exposure, physical damage, wiring faults, or simple age-related degradation. A faulty sensor sends incorrect readings to the control board, which may cause the compressor to run constantly, not run at all, or fail to trigger the defrost cycle.

- Error code displayed on the panel (e.g. E1, E2, E3 — varies by brand)
- Fridge temperature fluctuates wildly
- Defrost cycle not triggering correctly
